Welcome to the AFP Maryland Chapter!

AFP Maryland is your source for professional development in Baltimore, Annapolis, and the surrounding counties!

Over 300 members and other development professionals meet frequently to learn from AFP International’s resources and participate in a range of chapter offerings.

Our regular programs and events provide a wide range of education and training and opportunities for networking; roundtables to connect with peers around topics of interest and relevance; mentoring that brings experienced professionals together with those new to fundraising or who want to learn a new skill; a local job bank for job seekers; plus our annual Fundraising Day conference and National Philanthropy Day celebration. Check us out, join our chapter, get involved, and celebrate our profession.

We are proud to be designated as both a 2021 Ten Star Chapter and 2021 IDEA Champion!

AFP-MD Mentoring

Advance your career and the field: Join AFP-MD Mentoring Program

Do you wish you had someone to toss around a new professional idea with? Or do you ever wish that you could share some of your hard-earned wisdom from your fundraising experience?

If you said yes to either of these, then you should join the AFP-Maryland 2021 Mentoring Program.

The AFP-MD Mentoring Program is a 6-month cohort of experienced fundraisers matched in a 1-to-1 relationship with a relative newcomer (1-5 yrs) to the field. Each pair will meet monthly from May to October, 2021 (online or in person, depending on Covid conditions and personal preference) to help the mentee meet the challenge of becoming a more seasoned fundraiser. Pairs will address professional topics that they self-identify according to their particular interest, such as skill building, problem solving, and career development.

The goal is to create a culture of congeniality and support within the Baltimore fundraising community and to advance the professional skills and success of more local fundraisers.

Who should participate?

Mentees:
  • Early career fundraising professional (1 to 5 years experience)
  • Motivated to learn and improve your fundraising success
  • Willing and able to spend 6 months meeting monthly with your mentor
  • AFP member, committed to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards*
Mentor:
  • Fundraiser committed to best practices in fundraising and eager to help others learn along the way
  • Still growing in their own career; not waiting until they are “perfect” to share what they know!
  • Willing and able to spend 6 months meeting monthly with your mentee
  • Receive service learning points toward CFRE re-certification
  • AFP member, committed to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards

To join, please complete the short application here by Sunday, March 28th.
