Beyond Intentions: Transforming Fundraising Practices to Honor the Disability Community
Tuesday, April 16, 2024, 8:45 AM - 10:30 AM EDT
Category: Programs
Welcome to "Beyond Intentions," a groundbreaking workshop designed for professional fundraisers committed to embracing inclusivity and equity in their fundraising practices. As fundraisers, our efforts to secure support for noble causes can inadvertently perpetuate stereotypes and oppressive narratives about the disability community. This workshop aims to illuminate these unintentional consequences and pave the way for more respectful, empowering fundraising approaches. The event will be held at The Maryland School for the Blind. This workshop will be presented by Conchita Hernandez, a visionary disability rights advocate and educator whose expertise and passion for supporting the blind and low-vision community have made her a nationally recognized figure and Diane Colburn, a distinguished figure in vision rehabilitation, boasting an impressive blend of educational qualifications and professional experiences that have positioned her as a leader in supporting individuals with visual impairments. 8:45 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. - Coffee, Pastries and Networking 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. - Workshop This event is being presented by AFP Maryland at no cost to attendees.
