Through the Looking Glass: Self Reflection in a Polarized SocietyAs development professionals, we engage with donors, colleagues, and volunteers from various backgrounds on a daily basis. Sometimes, without meaning to, we judge people. These judgments affect our interactions and our workflow. How can we recognize our own unconscious biases, as we interact with the world around us, and use those tools to become more effective fundraisers and better humans? Please join us in this interactive session, presented by Birgit Burton, from Georgia Tech and the AFP international board, who will use research and facilitated small-group activities to engage in a deeper understanding of how unconscious bias can impact our work in fundraising and how we might mitigate it. There is street parking on Buena Vista Avenue, with the entrance to the “Union Mills Offices” on that street as well. Maryland Nonprofits is on the first floor of the building. There are two handicap spots, if needed. Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Registration and Networking 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Program Fee: $15 members, $30 non-members Register*login required to registerThis program has been approved by CFRE for 1.5 hrs credit |
