Power Your Mission Through Advocacy: Advocacy Essentials for Nonprofit Executives and Fundraisers Training + Drinks & Dialogue: Nonprofit Leaders’ Networking Hour

Friday, January 30, 2026 | 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM (Training) + 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM (Networking)

Stepping into advocacy for the first time can feel daunting – but it doesn’t have to be. This introductory training is designed specifically for fundraising professionals, executive directors, board members, and other leaders of 501(c)(3) nonprofits who want to understand how to effectively engage in Maryland’s legislative process.

Friday, January 30, 2026 | 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM (Training)
First Floor Conference Rooms, Union Mill, 1500 Union Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21211

You’ll learn the rules of the road for legislative advocacy – including the differences between advocacy, lobbying, and education and the state and IRS rules related to advocacy and lobbying – from Henry Bogden, Director of Public Policy for Maryland Nonprofits.

You’ll learn about the fundamentals of legislative process in Maryland and how to get started in advocacy, hear real-world examples of how nonprofits have shaped policy in Maryland, and get answers to your questions from a panel of nonprofit advocates facilitated by Kathleen Gregory, VP, Government Relations for AFP Maryland and Director of Development for the Public Justice Center. You’ll also hear about Maryland Nonprofits’ state and the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ federal policy priorities for 2026 and how you and your organization can get involved.

Be sure to join us post-event for a networking hour at Blue Pit BBQ!
