Grant Specialist 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Technical writing and support, copy edits, proofreads, and revises materials such as sponsored programs policies and procedure documents, manuscripts, grant proposals, and reports using a variety of software packages and formats
  • Coordinates proposal review and production, and ensures that materials conform to form and format requirements, procedures, guidelines, and schedules.
  • Compiles, verifies, and prepares items such as illustrations, graphics, tables, lists of references, and bibliographies.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, management, or other related discipline, preferred.


  • Four years directly related experience.

  • Excellent ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts.
  • Excellent grant writing and project management skills. Writes and presents information concisely.
  • Interprets and understands written information and can listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding.
  • Ability to maintain high standards with the work being performed and maintain awareness with trends and influences.
  • Assume personal responsibility for all outcomes; makes effective and timely decisions.
  • Effective use of technology. Skill in spreadsheet and database software applications.
  • Ability to work as part of a team. Working knowledge of research and sponsored programs administration; grants and contracts policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • General knowledge and skills in the use of word processing, database, and spreadsheet software to produce and submit documents and maintain information. Ability to learn Federal, State, and funding agency requirements related to grants and contracts.
  • Ability to learn and understand legal documents, contracts, applications, and awards. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work in an independent and self-directed manner.
  • Skill in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing complicated and continuing grant and contract assignments without instruction.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others.

Salary Range: The position is Contingent/Contract and Full time. The hourly rate is $28.84.
