Philanthropic Partnerships (PPG)Philanthropic Partnerships is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual and foundation prospects and donors to raise funds in support of Pew's mission.

Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, creative, entrepreneurial fundraiser with excellent written and verbal communications skills. The senior associate is responsible for building and managing a portfolio of at least 15 institutional prospects with capacity for five and six figure gifts.The senior associate's primary responsibility is to identify and qualify prospects, help build a pipeline of potential gifts, and manage proposals, gift acknowledgement, and grant reporting processes.The position is located in Pew's Washington, DC office and reports to the director, institutional giving.


  • Proactively manage a portfolio of 15 or more foundation prospects by developing and executing strategies across Pew's program areas in close coordination with the staff and others, leading to the successful solicitation of gifts under $500,000.
  • Play a measurable role in the development of letters of inquiry, strategic plans, grant proposals and budgets, grant agreements, and assist in the review and submission process. In addition, assist in drafting other materials needed to deepen prospect engagement for securing gifts such as newsletters and leadership letters.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, and 4 years of external fundraising experience in higher education, research, health, science, media, culture, or advocacy organizations.
  • Excellent written (including editing and proofreading) and verbal skills, including the ability to understand and translate Pew's mission and interests for donors and prospects with clarity, crispness, and effectiveness, and to develop complex written materials to summarize the essence of issues and the means to address them.
